Although born and raised in Philadelphia, Donna Simon has
lived in San Antonio for 36 years. She majored in painting and art education at The Tyler School of Art in Pennsylvania and completed her MA in secondary education at Hofstra University in New York.
Simon taught fine arts at Brackenridge High School in San
Antonio and retired in 2004. She now works at her studio in the
Blue Star complex in San Antonio. Using acrylic and its many new additive mediums, she builds texture before addressing
her subject matter, ranging from the overlooked and underappre-ciated organic beauty of bark to the reflections found on
the rough industrial concreteness of the Riverwalk walls.
As the founder and owner of SeeingArtSanAntonio, she currently engages visitors and the community in the visual arts, through an annual series of studio and gallery visits.
