I want my art to be fun. I began painting after retiring as a writer, so I am adept at using words to express myself. I want my painting to do the same, but my message now is different than it was on my job. Retirement brings me much joy. I am continually learning new things. I surprise myself by discovering so many new interests. I think my abstract art expresses this new and deep enjoyment I am experiencing in this phase of my life. Each painting holds a bit of mystery, a bit of whimsy, splashes of color, shapes that tantalize. The eye is drawn to feature after feature but resists the temptation to add meaning or to identify specific objects. My art mirrors my life at this time. I flow, I feel, I find the fun. I hope it invites each viewer to do the same.
