Susan Straus, Certified Trager Practitioner-Massage Therapist, artist, loved drawing as a child, and received an art award at age 6.
A studio Art major at Pine Manor College in Massachusetts, Susan holds a B.A. in Art & Art History from the University of Texas in Austin. She painted with Reginald Rowe at the San Antonio Art Institute, and Elizabeth Ridenhower and Bill Bristow at Trinity University where she earned a M.Ed in Education and Art. Susan’s interest in healing led her to California where she became a Certified Trager Practitioner, and also a Massage Therapist in Texas. In California she was certified as a Waldorf teacher 'Education Through the Arts', including a year long watercolor course. She brought the Waldorf arts influence into elementary teaching in San Antonio, including teaching after school Art in her home, and at Kipp Aspire Academy. Susan discovered the joy of abstract painting, thanks to the influence of renowned artist and teacher, Alberto Mijangos, at Salon Mijangos. (’04-’07). Her solo exhibit, ‘Color Melodies’ at AnArte Gallery led to commission work. She has been in group shows at AnArte Gallery and High Wire Gallery. Susan’s favorite artists: Paul Klee, Robert Delauney, Milton Avery, Georgia O’Keefe, William Baziotes, Maurice de Vlaminck, Arshille Gorky, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky.
