The SeGUIN HOSPITAL GRMC
EXHIBITION Opportunity
Michelle Rumbaut: Curator
Michelle Rumbaut - Art Wall curator for Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Seguin, Texas
After 30 years of full time administration work at the hospital in Seguin, I am now in a part-time position here focusing on construction, remodeling, and design work for the hospital. In 2010 we completed a $100M full campus renovation and construction project, resulting in a beautiful and welcoming facility that serves over 7 counties. Having the opportunity to influence the design of the hospital, one of the key elements I included was a glass encased locked art wall to provide a rotating showcase for local and regional artists
.
In the summer of 2019 we had the honor to showcase the works of Sylvia Benitz, a previous Seguinite. Not only was itmy pleasure to get to know Sylvia, but I was delighted to learn about the history and mission of her non-profit, GAGA. I have since enjoyed browsing through the GAGA website, and am already planning a joint exhibit of three GAGA artists in the Fall of 2020.
The glass encased art case is 30 feet long by 5 feet high,18 inches deep. These exhibits are seen by literally thousands of visitors, patients and staff who walk past this main hall daily. The exhibits typically rotate every three months.I enjoy bringing the creative talents of local artists to the public, and I know the public thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to experience and grow through these exhibits.
