My work is a confluence of two elements, abstraction and intuition.  Acrylics offer a flexibility allowing me to use quick, spontaneous gestures, wide color choices as well as a variety of textural surfaces.  Favoring the palette knife, I apply strong, unconstrained and unpredictable paint strokes constantly adding, subtracting, scratching and smoothing, giving rise to the emerging image. This dance and visual dialogue is both exhilarating and sobering. It is inherent to my practice and my development.  It is this act of creation I wish to share with my audience.

While primarily a self-taught artist, I have attended classes and workshops of several national, international and local artists to whom I am indebted.  I am also inspired and influenced by many painters, past and present. However, the aesthetic of key artists from around the turn of the 20th Century have influenced me greatly. Among them are Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall, Sonya Delaunay, Henry Matisse and others. I exhibit my work in group exhibitions in San Antonio and throughout southern Texas.
