Artist Statement
I have always been interested in art. As a kid I would draw all the time. My grandmother was a china painter and I loved going to her house and seeing her mix the paints and watch her fire the pieces in the kiln. She let me paint with her when I was 6 or so.
I majored in art in college but ended up working in insurance for more than 37 years. During that time my creativity was utilized in cooking. We all need to eat, right? I still managed to take some classes to keep my art going and I spent a lot of time making silver and copper jewelry.
After retiring I knew it was time for me to finally find my real self in art. The journey is a blast and I learn new techniques every week. Finally I am able to create the images and the pieces that I have dreamt of for so long.
