JOY
FISHER HEIN

I was born in Gainesville, Texas.  A small town with it’s own successful circus, which stimulated my imagination with endless possibilities. Painting and nature have inspired my focus since childhood.  I create narrative paintings, celebrating the importance of our native flora and fauna.  I also paint family celebrations, mine and other. Childhood daydreams still come to fruition through colors, shapes and brush strokes.

I opened my painting studio in the early 70’s.  I started creating hand-sculpted jewelry in the 80’s, with clients including The Joffrey Ballet, STP Indianapolis 500, The King Ranch and others. I have illustrated books, magazines and posters for children, adults and non-profit organizations, including the award winning MISS LADY BIRD’S WILDFLOWERS, How a First Lady Changed America. San Antonio City Parks selected me to create 13 murals, depicting the history of Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park.  My work is now in several parks in the Texas Hill Country. Two Texas schools libraries have my paintings as huge murals on their walls.

I’ve been honored with winning numerous painting awards over the years.

I enjoy sharing the importance of art and nature with students from primary through grad school, from Texas to Vermont.  I love art, the universal unspoken language.  If you can draw, you can communicate with just about everyone!
